THE WORK

Learn the product, practice, and build sales skills

YOUR STARTING POINT

You want to move from customer service or another field.

DISCUSS THE ECONOMICS

Discuss training, any base pay, expenses, and commissions.

01 / KNOW BEFORE YOU JOIN

Understand the role before choosing it

Appointment setting and closing are different activities. Ask whether the proposed role is focused on starting homeowner conversations, qualifying interest, booking appointments, presenting proposals, or a combination. Explain which activities you have done before and which ones you want to learn.

02 / KNOW BEFORE YOU JOIN

Ask what training actually includes

Discuss who provides product and sales training, whether you can observe experienced reps, how practice is handled, and how support works after onboarding. Ask about expected field activity and how progress is reviewed. Training details should be confirmed for the specific role.

03 / KNOW BEFORE YOU JOIN

Choose a market you can consistently work

Start with your home base and a realistic travel area. A city guide can help you name neighboring communities rather than saying you will work anywhere in Florida & Ohio. Include whether you can attend in-person appointments and when you are available.

04 / KNOW BEFORE YOU JOIN

Get clear on compensation and expenses

Ask whether the opportunity is employment or an independent-contractor arrangement, whether any base pay exists, what activity earns commission, when payment becomes eligible, and which expenses you pay. Do not assume the illustrative calculator represents an entry-level offer.

Can I apply if I have never sold solar?

Yes. Choose New sales rep in the application and describe your transferable skills. The recruiting team can review your fit and discuss any suitable role; submitting interest does not guarantee an opening or training arrangement.
